  1. The Croatian Political Spectrum and Party Loyalty

The Croatian political spectrum is dominated by two strong political parties and becoming more polarized: SDP on the Left and HDZ on the right. Depending on the election these two parties can garner approximately 75% of the vote. Over the last ten years the SDP has played a skillful strategy of using coalitions to grow their own organization and subsequent success in elections. The small parties are on a trend to become smaller and subsequently irrelevant.

  2. How should Diaspora help steer the Homeland into a new direction

Without a doubt the Croatia of today is not the Croatia that we have dreamed of over the last 50 years. Twenty years ago many brave men and women took up arms and fought bravely and sacrificed to bring to life a new future for their children. When noone speaks about how they got cheated we do not know how widespread the problems are. The wrongdoers can go from victim to victim with impunity. Only when we know how widespread problems are we can allocate time and resources to fixing the problems. ...

  5. Understanding Croatian Demographics

A few days ago I read an article at hakave.org - Održana tribina HKV-a "Što je ostalo od hrvatskih stranaka?"

I applaud HKV for organizing the event because it truly is worthwhile to discuss these issues. What stuck me as being odd and disappointing was the demographics of the meeting. Where are the young people? Where are the women? Why are young people not interested in being politically active?

Presenters: 75% of presenters were males aged 60+
