    The d'Hondt method used in Croatia, and many other European countries favors large parties and coalitions. In Croatian Sabor elections there is a large disparity in seat allocation comparing small parties to the HDZ and SDP. While HDZ and SDP receive 7 seats per 100,000 votes the small parties receive just under 4 seats per 100,000 votes.   5. Understanding Croatian Demographics

    A few days ago I read an article at hakave.org - Održana tribina HKV-a "Što je ostalo od hrvatskih stranaka?"

    I applaud HKV for organizing the event because it truly is worthwhile to discuss these issues. What stuck me as being odd and disappointing was the demographics of the meeting. Where are the young people? Where are the women? Why are young people not interested in being politically active?

    Presenters: 75% of presenters were males aged 60+
